A fetish photographer takes photographs of people in fetishistic situations, such as in bondage, or wearing rubber or leather clothing. More extreme fetish photography depicts paraphiliac acts such as urination, enemas, or SM activities. Depending on point of view, fetish photography can be considered as fine art, erotica, or pornography. Once only published in bondage magazines, fetish photography is now also published as “art books”. Taschen is one prominent publisher printing fetish books on a mass scale. Bondage and fetish imagery has also made its way into mainstream pornographic magazines.
Pioneering fetish photographers include John Willie, who published a famous fetishistic magazine, “Bizarre” from 1946 to 1959. Another pioneer photographer includes art photographer Paul Outerbridge who introduced fetish elements into his color photographs as early as the 1940s. Contemporary fetish photography has much since entered the mainstream with Helmut Newton bringing focal elements of high heels, lipstick and leather within a fashion-centric sphere. Further pushing the concept are today’s fetish masters such as Lochai – winner of the 2006 International Erotic Fine Art Photographer of the Year award for Beach Bound, which incorporated elements of Japanese rope bondage.

August recap
A darn good month! August started out pretty good with the opening of my show at the World Erotic Art Museum in Miami. This one man show is the pinnacle of my photography carrier. Winning awards in the past have been wonderful bu to have those images hang in this museum have really validated my art (in my mind at least) I was so glad when Miss Naomi, the owner of WEAM accepted “Beach Bound” into their collection.
I am very proud to have this image permantly hanging in Miami @ WEAM as well as in Chicago @ the Leather Archives & Museum.
The other way August has been so wonderful and actually ties in rather well with Beach Bound is that as you already know, I was offered a wonderful new job as the new Director of Hogtied.com! It just so happens that the model in “Beach Bound” Claire Adams, is also a director at Kink.com, the umbrella company of HT. So, all in all this month has made me rather proud of myself and has given me warm & fuzzy feelings.
I think I like August.

After a careful search and audition process, Kink.com has officially extended the offer to award-winning fine art bondage photographer and rigger Lochai.

Lochai’s inaugural Hogtied update, a sizzling 56-minute scene featuring 22-year-old beauty Isobel Wren, was shot last month when he was auditioning for his new role. to do some rigging, 2 shoots, and for J and I to search out a palce to live. We are looking outside the city for cost reasons but if anyone knows someone who happens to be the brother in law of a girl who knows a guy who has a 3 bedroom in SF for under $2500 please drop me a line.
This will be the first real time for me to see the city and J’s first time ever. All the other times I have been out there was when I was rigging for HT and did not have much time for myself. This time will be different. We will have the weekend as well as a full week to look around. I will only be working 2 days & the rest of the time is mine….

Man, how is it that I have tyhe same move, the same furnature & the same boxes getting ready to head out but every moving company that is calling me to give quotes is so spread out in price.
I am glad I am a Realtor (er was… ;-)) and know how to negotiate because the best quote I have is still the first one I got & now everyone else is trying to match it.
Well I am starting to get some nice feedback in the Forums on Kink.com about my move out there so people are starting to learn about my new position… Really looking forward to getting out there in 2 weeks to find a place to live & then to finally move out for good.

Yes, I was officially offered the webmaster/directors job @ Kink as the new Director of Hogtied.com. Matt has been promoted to Creative Director of Kink & all of their sites & he has been looking for his replacement. It seems I was on the top of the short list.
So, starting today I will be keeping an account of what it is like to have the dream job of every (public) rigger I have ever met or had in one of my classes. This is a lot to wrap my head around but I am really looking forward to working with such a wonderful crew of people doing what I love doing.

Mixed blessing about not going to Fetish Con this year. The good, I got to spend a rather relaxing weekend with my beautiful wife Janice & we did get out to see the Tattoo Convention. Down side, I got no less tahn 20 calls or text messages asking whre I was at Fetish Con because beautiful woman wanted me to tie them up and take pictures. :-( Many of my rigging friends made it out this year & were able to hook up with some of my regular models & play partners & I wish i was able to see what they did but I guess I will just have to wait for the pictures.
Hmmmmm…… At least I have my beautiful wife….

In conjunction with its cultural event “Provocation – Sensualité & Érotisme“, and in association with Le Bal Érotique and Erotic Signature, Le Conseil des Arts du Québec (CAQ) will be host for “ARTundressed“, An International Erotic Art Exhibition Tour (Miami, Montréal, Berlin, Amsterdam, London), featuring over 150 artworks from 120 international artists. Additionally, the work of 30 additional local and international artists, curated by le Conseil Des Arts, will also be on display at the Exhibition in Montreal from August 12 – 17th. This collection of some of the world’s most talented artists derived from a yearly international juried competition from which 200 of the best entries were selected and published in a compendium entitled “The World’s Greatest Erotic Art of Today”. Two volumes of this annual publication have already been released and contain a great number of the artworks to be exhibited throughout the Tour. The third volume is due in Spring 2009 and will include the work of some of this year’s participating artists in the Montreal Show. Black Beat & Fet Con… not this year…
Well, I was supposed to teach at Black Beat with Janice this year. Due to some personal reasons we needed to withdraw (first time in 12 years of teaching) That sucks… we were really looking forward to this event as we have never been to it before & have heard great things.
I was hoping to be able to make a day or so of Fetish Con instead of the 5 days I usually spend there but alas, can’t even make that. :-( One thing that really sucks about not going to the con is that I have about 20 models I would love to shoot that I did not have the time to shoot with last year. Well I guess I will have to wait till next year.
One thing that really sucks is that I got a text message from Angela Ryan (just look at the header of my blog) looking for me at the meet & greet. All day long I am being looked for by beautiful, sexy woman hoping to catch me during my busy con days.
I will be out to the Tattoo Convention tomorrow with my camera though. Beautiful Woman with Beautiful Ink… Meeting up with a hot blonde I met the other night at the con & I hope to get some nice images of her. I even got to tie her & got to know her “better”. Looking forward till the next time I get her in my ropes.

Browsing his most recent show, you get the feeling few people enjoy their job as much as photographer Lochai.His Beach Boundexhibit at the World Erotic Art Museum(1205 Washington Avenue, Miami Beach) is a study in Lochai’s various fetishes. While front and center is the theme of women in bondage — hence the show’s title — the photographer’s NC-17 tastes clearly run the gamut: the images include a nun in a leather gas mask, a naked woman perched above a toilet, and an androgynous figure in a full-body rubber suit, lying in a bathtub being pummeled by running water from the spout above.
But as unlikely as it sounds, the images aren’t necessarily shocking — nor does that seem to be Lochai’s intent. And instead of the violence you might expect from a portfolio of bondage photos, there’s a playfulness instead. In images that might otherwise invoke terror — for instance, the pair that shows a woman left bound by a hotel bed, or in an eerily domestic living room — the subjects gaze with a mix of mockery and intrigue at the camera.
As to whether you should go to this show, it’s fetishism — either it gets your attention or it doesn’t. If you’re a regular reader of “Savage Love,” you’ll probably find this exhibit, at the least, entertaining. If you’ve ever protested a gay Teletubby, on the other hand, you should probably save your cash for Miami Spice.If you do go, be sure to wander around the rest of the museum, which is surprisingly expansive for a place that’s very missable from the outside. They’ve got it all here, with perverse pieces from all over the world, ranging from the contemporary (an 8-foot golden penis statue) to the ancient (Chinese jade dildoes). You won’t look at a lamppost, or a bald guy, the same way for the rest of the day.– Gus Garcia-Roberts

I need to say this loud & clear….. If it weren’t for Catalina and the rest of the wonderful bloggers at The Best Sex Bloggers, the show would have been very different, not in a good way though.
Because of the enormous efforts of Catalina and everyone else putting out the word and gathering sponsors to support me, I was able to mount 43 of my prints in WEAM, the World Erotic Art Museum. I have had a number of one man shows here & there and actually just took down a year long show that graced the walls of the Leather Archives & Museum in Chicago. Now this show was wonderful and all but I was an outsider coming in to show my work, WEAM on the other hand is local, I was written up in the local paper NewTimes Miami and was welcomed by my friends as the show opened. This to me was the pinnacle of my shooting career. All thanks to the perverts here that run the world of sex blogs….. thank you!

Another wonderful thing Miss Naomi, the owner of WEAM, told my wife Janice, in the three years WEAM has been open, I am the first person to sell anything during an opening! I sold one image off the wall, one limited edition 5×7 Beach Bound, one smaller version of Toe Suck out of my portfolio and 2 copies of the “Worlds Greatest Erotic Art of Today” Vol 1 & 2! My winning images appear in both books my muse Alyssa Loren was in attendance & was able to sign the books with me. Two of my images of her, Ally Bound & Spider Brides appear in Vol 1, A VERY limited edition set of books!
